Change The World, Create Something!
At this year's Tribeca Film Festival, I had the pleasure to talk with Jennifer Pryor, widow of the late Richard Pryor. The comic legend passed away in 2005 at the age of 65.
Shortly before our one-on-one discussion, I overheard some of the journalists eager to ask about his public persona--freebasing, setting himself on fire, etc. Those things certainly are part of his story but it's definitely not the whole story.
While Pryor's comedic gift walked the balance between personal catharsis and political commentary, sadly there were just far too many demons from his childhood that even comedy could not expel. Jennifer Pryor opens up about this and much more about her life with Richard—including a very personal moment that will stay with me (and hopefully you, the viewers) always.
Be sure to catch RICHARD PRYOR: Omit the Logic, which premieres tonight at 9:00PM only on Showtime.
