Change The World, Create Something!

Last Saturday night at South Paw was epic. Local heavy hitters, Kalae AllDay, Niles Davis, TreZure the Empress, Jah C and The Antidote, and Rebel Starr were all formidable opening acts for Idle Warship (Talib Kweli, Res, and Graph Nobel). Unfortunately, MegaBone was slated to perform, but because they were "tardy for the party", didn't. This is a nod to the changing face of show culture, where event organizers such as Jah C have more respect for fans than to push the whole show back 30 minutes or more. Only a handful of shows subscribe to this, and I wish more would.
I'll let the video speak for itself, but each act brought a truly unique style. From soul, to rock, to hip hop, to a hybrid of each, there was an artist that spoke to everyone room. You'll even see Brooklyn's own creative soul, Jay Knocka (aka Jay GlowSociety) rockin' WITH The Idle Warship!!

My only beef of the night, was the "Live Art". I spent parts of the night searching for artist, Marthalicia. She was like a black box after a plane crash, in the dark and hard to find. When I finally found her she was in complete darkness using her CELL PHONE as a source of light. As a promoted part of the show, she should have been valued as such. Would they have dared to expect Talib Kweli to perform with out a mic? Nevertheless, Martha does it AGAIN! Check out her painting:
Overall, it was a FANTASTIC show and a great way to kick off the holiday season. I honestly anticipate great things from ALL the artists involved!
