Change The World, Create Something!

PUMA + "Sustainable Futures" + "Urban Africa" @ Design Museum LONDON

I recently visited The London Design Museum for the "invitation-only" viewing of PUMAsafe/PUMAcreative sponsored "Sustainable Futures" exhibition and David Adjaye's Photographic Journey "Urban Africa." On arrival I was instantly reminded of the inspiring beauty of London's Tower Bridge river front where the design museum is located. I then carried on into a night of true creative inspiration as i enjoyed an fruitful evening of design, photographic art and good old fashion person to person networking.

The "SUSTAINABLE FUTURE" exhibition is built around the concept of making design and architecture creative's take an inward look at their greatly innovative works and turn the table on the idea of wasteful indulgence in creation, to spearhead the movement of a sustainable future in the way of energy conservation, food production and growth, materiality, recycling an resourcefulness/effective design and structure of cities as a whole. The exhibition really got me thinking as a designer and consumer alike of the ways sustainability in design, from concept to follow through can create positive and real change to the physical condition and economy for the world as well as really push those creative juices to an amazing unexplored higher level. Sustainable Futures will be on view through September 5, 2010.

The "URBAN AFRICA" exhibition a photographic journey by David Ajaye is a truly stunning depiction of all the countries in a vast and amazing continent, Africa. As a great architect of this time I was truly impressed with the artistic story of greatly varied urban environments conveyed through his photographic documentary. The exhibition is Intimately inspiring in the way in which the vivid imagery of the thousands of photos taken can immediatly take you on a ride through colour, emotion and creation whilst at the same time draw your incite to focus on the "diversity of architecture, culture and urban landscape. Urban Africa will be on view through September 5, 2010.

Both the "Sustainable Futures" and "Urban Africa" exhibitions were amazingly insightful and a great opportunity to network with designers and those who simply understand and appreciate design alike. The event greatly encouraged a positive step forward into a future of great innovation.
