Ninjasonik... Rappers As Art Curators

Ninjasonik fans far and wide would most definitely assert that the electro rap crew brings the heat... and everyone who attended their exhibition opening last week during 1st Thursdays in DUMBO would wholeheartedly agree. A power outage at Front Street Galleries and other parts of DUMBO left attendees hot and a bit uncomfortable but did not deter them from packing into the gallery to enjoy the artistry and spectacle of "Somebody Gonna Get Pregnant."
In the DIY Punk spirit of the 80s meets 21st century social networking Ninjasonik set out to crowd source the album cover art for their single "Somebody's Gonna Get Pregnant." Teaming up with Nick Chatfield-Taylor, they handed out blank Ninjasonik singles to 50 of Nick's artist friends... the result... an entertaining... somewhat explicit.. but on the money interpretation of the persona of Ninjasonik.

"Somebody Gonna Get Pregnant will be on view through June 25 at Front Street Galleries (gallery #214) at 111 Front Street, Brooklyn, NY. Gallery hours are 11am to 6pm, Thursday thru Sunday.
