SOCIETY HAE

Change The World, Create Something!

Name: Beth Mburu-Bowie

AKA: HowAboutBeth

Hails From: London (also known as my Mercury)

Grind of choice: The Muse - La Musica

What do you want to be known for? Rabid Ballads which celebrates the more awkward, or peculiar things in life using an array of voices, synths, strings, horns, harps, bass, tuned percussion and drums. They are rough & unpolished, move in odd directions, but at their core they are very much pop songs - pop songs with the intention of melting & invading brains & establishing kingdoms.

What inspires you? Queen Victoria. Tardiness. Complaining. Humour. Laughter & Faith.

What track are you currently listening to that is in constant rotation? I haven't got an MP3 player at the moment. It's kind of great, but it also means that I literally have my own songs on loop at all times in my head. Broken melodies, unfinished lyrics, thoughts that make me laugh, it's all one big-faux-oil-water-coloury-acrylic-painting. Multi-textured of course, maybe bits of egg-shell left behind from times when egos have been too fragile. - All of this stuff is generally swimming to some kind of tune that wants a better shape.

HowAboutBeth is a Singer and Composer - There are jokes in the dark things, there are also dark things. You find it in the laughter, and she writes songs about them. She blazes a sonic trail the likes of which the world has never seen… both inexplicably light-hearted and spiritually arresting…. - OkAfrica
