Hip-Hop Artist on the rise: J. Nolan

J.Nolan, born as Jamar Nolan, is a 22 year old, unsigned Hip-Hop artist from New Haven, CT but resides now in Atlanta, GA. Nolan is becoming one of the south-east region’s premier lyricists on the rise with his penchant for mixing fluid wordplay with metaphors and also showing ability to venture into storytelling concepts. His influences consist of Nas, Lupe Fiasco, The Roots, Common, and many others.


After putting writing on the back burner several times, J.Nolan began frequently writing songs, freestyling, and battling fellow emcees in local ciphers after school. In 2005, he formed a group called Manifest with his best friend Osiris The Prophet and cousin Yung B Da Producer. In 2007 when they disbanded as solo artists in a crew known as The Manifest Movement. He uses this imprint to release his independent mixtapes and free albums.


In May 2009, J.Nolan released his first official mixtape, “Chasing Cool.” It was sponsored by VIMBY.com's now defunct music blog UponThingz.com, which helped introduce Nolan's name into the new digital world of online music through blogs. His follow up project, “Resilience” was released in October of 2009. He shot and released a video for his single “Going In” featuring up and coming singer, Zayani Rose. In August 2010, J.Nolan released a free album entitled “Broken Dreams” in conjunction with a team called the Connoisseurs of Culture (comprised of DifferentKitchen.blogspot.com, TheCouchSessions.com, and PleaseDontStare.com). This would prove to be his most widely accepted musical offering, as many websites and blogs supported it with favorable reviews.


Now in 2011, Nolan plans to release a new mixtape entitled "The Loose Files" and another free album called "Chaos Theory". So far, he's put out 2 singles from The Loose Files. The first of the two, “Get Out The Game” was featured on ThisIs50.com's homepage on 1/10/2011. This year looks to be a promising one for J.Nolan, an artist that's been pushing his music relentlessly for quite some time. Fans of the true, authentic sound of Hip-Hop should definitely be on the lookout for this talent and genuine artist.
