Dermal Daredevil

Our bodies, yes our own unique bodies have become a playground for our fashion expressions. Tattoos for instance, have developed into a signature staple for some just like their favorite pieces of clothing or accessories. Lately however, it seems as though there has been a great influx in fashion body piercing…but not your average type of piercing.

Dermal piercing, or surface anchors appear to be the latest trend of “beauty body augmentation”. Supposedly, it’s really not that painful. Basically, you can go to a PROFESSIONAL PIERCER (no basement business for this one)… and have this procedure done. So here it goes…you go in and say…”Yo I want a dermal piercing ya dig”…then your “piercer” says “Ok, I can dig it…where do you want it?”….that’s the cool part…you can get them anywhere you want, although certain parts of the body have a better chance of accepting the anchor. Once you have chosen your selection, an entry point is made using a needle or a dermal punch…OUCH...the jewelry base is then inserted through this hole and manipulated slightly for correct placement. Now you want to make sure the jewelry that is being used is titanium to minimize some long term risk…(remember people this is going beneath the skin and being anchored there!...). Oh yeah, healing time varies from 1-3 months.

I have to say...these things look pretty cool....and some look pretty painful... People are pairing them with their tattoos, jewelry, clothing etc. I mean it’s very interesting and distinctive to look at…and it’s popping up all over the place. Now I know I have mentioned I am one for trying new things…it seems cool as all hell…but…I don’t think my skin is gonna get with it…plus the only other part of my body that I ever did anything extraordinary with was my belly button…you know that piercing…(mad old school…lol)… but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try it…especially if you love body art work!...So let me know…I really want to see the procedure done in person… :p
