SOCIETY HAE

Change The World, Create Something!

A picture is worth a thousands words... and in the case of Senegalese photographer Oumar Ly nothing could be more true.  We had the opportunity to meet the world re-known photographer whose work was on display as part of the Photography Exhibition at the The World Festival of Arts & Cultures held in Dakar December 10 - 31 (2010).  Ly did not speak English and we did not speak French yet his images and movement communicated his process and his story to us perfectly... no translation needed.

At this year's Tribeca Film Festival, I had the pleasure to talk with Jennifer Pryor, widow of the late Richard Pryor. The comic legend passed away in 2005 at the age of 65.Shortly before our one-on-one discussion, I overheard some of the journalists eager to ask about his public persona--freebasing, setting himself on fire, etc. Those things certainly are part of his story but it's definitely not the whole story. While Pryor's comedic gift walked the balance between personal catharsis and…See More
