All Eyes on Africa

Greetings

Its been ages since I posted something on this here blog, lots of cool and krazie things have been happening in the past few months wont be able to cover all of them but just thought id pop in and see whats been poppin.


Currently working on a project called Cascoland, its a publc art
project between designers and artists from Holland, Cape Town,
Johannesburg and Kenya. One of the stadiums in the North West of South
Africa was supposed to be used for the world cup but then FIFA dropped
it in the last minute and so, we have taken over the stadium to do art
installations, performances and creative workshops with the community
in this area. Therez a lot of interesting ideas coming up and at the moment all is
still in the production stage will keep you updated and maybe even post
some pics as we go along. But the whole idea is to find ways that we can teach the communities on how they can continue to utilize these huge stadiums even after the world cup creatively.

I hope that yall made time to checkout the opening ceremony for the 2010 FIFA world cup. I am not particularly
a big fan of soccer and I have my own issues with FIFA and how they operate, but I must be honest I was really humbled to see how South Africa and Africa was united by this whole big soccer extravanganza.I am proud to say that Africa did it and I hope that all the African teams representing the continent in this tournament will kick ass.

Arise Africa Fashion week will be taking place at the end of June, thats going to be interesting to checkout. Ive been out of touch with whats going on in the Fashion scene lately but one of my flavarit designers at the moment is a lady called SuperElla, she is tooo dope, has a very interesting take on fashion, but unfortunately is not into this whole digital thing so she doesnt have a website or blog. but will post a few images of some of her week in the next few days so yall can have an idea of what im talking about. also checkout this here blog, a group cool kids from Jozi that are doing their thang:http://okmalume.blogspot.com/
