Top 5 Natural Ways to Prevent and Fight a Cold or Flu

Posted on November 5, 2010 at 7:57pm 0 Comments

1. Garlic

It may smell a bit stinky but these little miracle cloves do a lot more than deter vampires. Garlic is antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties as well as antioxidants. It is most effective taken in its raw form as its active ingredient, Allicin, has a short active span once garlic is cut. Cooking garlic also kills off its… Continue

Juices and Berries :: Clean Slate Fast

Posted on October 11, 2010 at 2:48pm 0 Comments

I have a new fast I am enjoying thus far :-)

Clean Slate Fast

It is a 24 hour fast to kickstart your week, month, year; Whatever the occasion. Sometimes I feel the need to give my body system a hard reboot and this surely can achieve that.

My experience is this is a perfect fast for those who work during the week and want to just incorporate something new. For fast longer than 24 hours, I… Continue

are brought low by long sickness...professed wrestlers and champions

were in times past fed with figs."
* Pliny, Roman naturalist (A.D. 23-79)

This post comes a little late in the season but now is actually a great time to catch some wonderfully sweet figs.…

All is Fair in Trade :: Soccer Dads {World Cup Gone Green} + 24 Hour Giveaway

Posted on June 14, 2010 at 4:08pm 0 Comments

This is an exciting week in many ways. We get to honor our lovely men who are true fathers and World Cup fan fare is permeating the globe. To my surprise, there is a line of fair trade, eco-friendly, and vegan soccer balls (and other sports as well including basketball and football). How cool is that?! The sports world needs a big dose of fairness, accountability, and sustainability.

I had the opportunity to speak with Scott James, the founder and… Continue

Sea Vegetables also know as algae and seaweed are a world food of goodness. Some of the more recognizable types of seaweed are nori, hijiki, laver, wakame, kombu, and dulse.

Because of various heavy metals that have polluted water over the years, including arsenic being present in many sources of seaweed, make sure you purchase certified organic seaweed. A few trusted brands include: Maine Coast Sea Vegetables, Eden Foods, and Emerald Cove. You can… Continue

Namaste Yoli!
I hope you don’t mind, but I’m sending you this post because

A) You live in NY
B) I don’t
C) My little sister, Therese, is performing at the BAM Café 2 morrow (June 27th) Event is FREE.
D) Since I can’t be there, I want to send as many big sister love warriors to go and scream and rave and cheer her on in my stead. It’s on the Society HAE events calendar, if you want more details. Or, just e-me back:)

‘Preciate it, baby! And super big welcome to SHAE, sis. You're a foodie, huh? You should connect with "T.I" and see if you guys can co-create/collabo on something, or just talk tastebud/palate stuff:)

No worries, darlin' Thank you for responding, sister. That means a lot to me. The LOVELIEST thing happened. Adande MyFunkyTwistedSoul (a SHAE member I have never met in person) went. She actually didn't even see my sis perform (missed her set b/c she performed early). BUT. BUT. How magic is this?....She went up to her and embraced her (my sis said she gave her "a big sister warrior hug") FOR me. Ain't that sooo touching??? Okay, I shut up now or else I start tearing up again:)
