Change The World, Create Something!
SL Cultural Conservation Program has not received any gifts yet
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The Cultural Conservation Project (CCP) was created by the AFF team in partnership with the Sierra Leone National Museum and the Freetown Film Festival, in early 2011. The program responds to the challenges faced by youth and the cultural sector in Sierra Leone by providing in-depth training to young documentary artists and mediamakers, and by engaging these young artists in the creation of public arts and media programs for the local community, all free of charge for audiences and participants. The CCP contributes to the revival of traditional culture, local artistic approaches, and spaces for education and dialogue.
FUNDING THE CCP:
In the coming months, CCP participants will conduct a public oral history project in the National Museum of Sierra Leone, during which they will interview Sierra Leoneans from various backgrounds about their lives and experiences. In addition to being broadcast on the radio and archived in the museum, excerpts of these interviews will be made available to the public at a listening station in the museum. Alongside the listening station, there will be a photo exhibit of some of the interviewees.
Money awarded from the Mixtape grant can support CCP’s purchase of necessary camera equipment for the production of the photo exhibition.
