My name is Regina Agu, and I'm a visual artist. I'm also obsessed with words and new places.

Bio: Regina Agu was born in Houston, TX and was raised traveling overseas throughout Africa and Europe, as her father undertook work with the United Nations, World Health Organization. Her family has roots in both Nigeria and Louisiana, and her artwork reflects her own rich cultural heritage, as well as the cultures and locations that she encountered during her upbringing.
Agu was first exposed to drawing and painting through her mother’s artwork, sketchbooks and design textbooks, and she began to nurture her own creative drive as a young child. Upon returning to the United States to attend Cornell University and subsequently relocating back to Houston, Agu continues to create work and actively exhibits nationally.

Black Lily said… - SupaSTAR!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to read, mama. Truly, that means so much to me. I know we all have such busy lives and crazy pulls at our attention in every direction, but that particular story was important to me (although, to be honest, I wasn't crazy about the writing...but, in that piece I felt WHAT was said was more improtant than HOW I said it). Who knows...maybe only 5 people witll read it...but MAYBE, just MAYBE 1 of those 5 will be a sister in need...or KNOW a sister in need.....and does some research....and contacts IDVAAC...and gets some help that could possibly save her from harm. Sh*t, I go on...I just wanted to say "THANKS"...So, thanks, grrrl!

- Hello darlin'....so glad you jumped in. The water's nice and warm:) Check my page for your peeps. Definitely check out Tanekeya's page here. I super adore her. She totally peeped me to some amazing work (i'm a writer and don't have clue the first about visual art..except what moves me).
Hmmm...other visual artists you may dig/connect with? Marissa...she's out of San Fran. Has a blogazine called Black Butterfly in which she's always profiling bad ass artists doing some ol' mess you ain't never seen before.
Ooo, and I love love love what my friend, Akiackee is doing with photography...this moody, soft, hazy, nostalgic, 70's, Brooklyn-Y thing...just makes you want to float.
