Kimberly Knox Executive Summary and INTRODUCING LITTLEFIELD!!!
With over a decade of experience in various facets of the entertainment industry, Kim Knox has created, produced or developed numerous event marketing concepts. Whether it be club scene ventures to major extravaganzas, her work has taken her all over; from other countries (London, Barcelona) to New York City's fabled Lower East Side. She has consistently produced events in conjunction with music labels (BBE, Columbia, J Records); major recording artists, major corporations (Camel, Scion); and fundraisers (Black Ball: Keep-A-Child-Alive). Her work has always touched a wide array of demographics. It is her ability to understand diverse markets and manage multiple assignments which makes her indispensable.
In April 2007, Knox was called upon to launch the special events division for DUBSPOT which is NYC’s first DJ, VJ and music production school. As Director of Special Events she supervised a production team of 6 as they were contracted to create large scale, multi-media experiences for a variety of clientele including GEN ART, David Stark Design, VH1 Hip Hop Honors Weekend and the 2007CMJ Music Marathon in NYC.
At the start of her career at Innovative Artists in New York, she learned that the main goal of Talent & Artist Relations is to present an artist in the right light; a light of integrity and excellence.Building bridges between niche and mainstream markets has always been her expertise. As the founder of one of NYC’s best known lifestyle brand and production company catering to the 24-45 urban creative professional demographic, UBIQUITA; she has developed a strong network of relationships. These relationships keep her on the pulse of the underground and give her the ability to accurately forecast trends in music, film and culture. This skill has in turn made her a valuable resource in the worlds of music, event marketing and advertising. She has consulted on projects with companies and organizations such as Keep A Child Alive, Trace Magazine, Uniworld, TBWA/Chiat Day, Urban Spectrum Network/Warner Bros, The International Soul Music Summit & Nextaid to name a few.
Over the last 10 years as an independent event producer in NYC she has cultivated a wealth of artist contacts within the soul music genre. This has enabled her to work with artists such as Alicia Keys, Common, N’Dea Davenport, Caron Wheeler, Omar, N'Dambi Meshell N’Degeocello, Vikter Duplaix and Goapele as well as countless independent artists. In July 2009 Knox was brought on board as lead talent buyer for Brooklyn's newest eco-friendly art and performance venue LITTLEFIELD!!
INTRODUCING LITTLEFIELD
littlefield is a new performance and art space in Brooklyn’s Gowanus neighborhood nestled between Park Slope and Carroll Gardens. Housed in an old, 6,200-square foot warehouse, littlefield merges the Gowanus’ industrial past with an organic, eco-friendly future. These green elements include a landscaped interior courtyard, sound walls formed from recycled rubber tires, a bar constructed of salvaged bowling alley lanes, and energy supplied by wind power. Future projects include a grey-water system and a landscaped roof that will reduce littlefield’s footprint to virtually zero.
Coupled with an industrial/organic aesthetic is a state-of-the-art sound system designed for live music, art installations, and film screenings. The main system is based around the latest 3-way loudspeaker arrays by EAW, powered by QSC amplifiers, and digitally controlled via networked Rane processors. As an added acoustical and functional feature, a moveable
partition was built to separate the performance space from the bar/courtyard. When the
partition is fully closed, the performance space can accommodate up to 200 people while the bar/courtyard can hold up to 50. For larger performances, the partition can be moved to one side and littlefield can hold up to 250 people.
This flexible design allows littlefield to book diverse programming, occupying various
performance spaces either simultaneously or slightly staggered. During the first two months, littlefield has hosted a wide spectrum of programs including indie rock, soul, jazz,
experimental, hip-hop, and reggae, as well as art exhibits, literary events and film screenings. Highlighted events include Bernie Worrell’s new band SociaLybrium, Kaki King’s art
exhibition, and French-Canadian rockers Malajube.
While enjoying these events, patrons can also try varied alcohol selections where sake, wine, micro-brewed beers, and cocktails are served. Famed mixologist Tona Palomino of WD-50 created littlefield’s menu, which focuses on a seasonal coherence of flavors and product.
