Editorial Opportunities


Society HAE’s (SHAE) focus is to serve as a point of convergence for artists and creative thinkers worldwide by providing content that speaks to their interests as it relates to art of all mediums.  With the intent of promoting emerging art and culture from a global perspective we’ve traveled to London, Dakar, Tokyo, Lagos and cities through out the US where we documented and shared the stories of emerging artists.  In our efforts to further this work, we are looking for writers, editors and creative thinkers to join us in this exciting endeavor.  Our mantra is “Change The World.  Create Something.” and we hope you’ll consider joining our editorial team to help us do just that.

ART + CULTURE WRITERS/CORRESPONDENTS

Art + Culture (AC) Correspondents will be responsible for producing editorial content that focuses on the emerging arts scene in their respective cities with occasional posts on the global arts scene. AC Correspondents will work closely with editorial director.

 

Specific Duties Include:

  • Produce 2 - 3 editorial posts per week
  • Post relevant art listings to SHAE events calendar
  • Research story leads, fact-checking
  • Engage with readers/audience on SHAE and across social media platforms (facebook, twitter, foursquare, youtube)
  • Communicate weekly with editorial director about developing stories
  • Be available for occasional on-camera interviews or event coverage
  • Assist in building a dedicated online following around coverage of emerging arts and culture locally and around the world

 

Qualifications:  

  • Possess the writing/research skills to produce stylish, provocative weekly editorial pieces (blog posts/video/photo)
  • Knowledge of and interest in the local and international art and culture scene.
  • Ability to cultivate sources, generate story ideas and identify important trends in emerging art
  • Familiarity with blogging software and knowledgeable about the use and development of social media and multimedia tools and applications
  • Self-confident and outgoing with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills—both oral and written



The art + culture writer/correspondent position is unpaid, however, if invited to join the team you will have the opportunity to attend art openings and exclusive art events, as well as conduct interviews with thought leaders in art world.  There may also be opportunities for travel with in the US and overseas.


 

Internship Opportunities


Society HAE is seeking ambitious, self-motivated and creative individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit to join out team as interns.  As an intern you'll have the opportunity to work with and learn from a great group of editors, writers, artists and creative minds.

Internships are conducted over the site and through email and conference calls, with occasional team meetings.  Internships will require a minimum of 6-10 hours per week. Internships are unpaid but college credit may be available.

As an intern and member of Team SHAE you will be able to attend exclusive events and shows.  Opportunities for travel may be possible (editorial trips to local, national and international festivals/events/conferences).

SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP

Social media (SM) intern will be responsible for helping SHAE expand its’ online multimedia content and global social media presence.  SM intern will work closely with editors and creative team.  SM intern will also assist SHAE with social media strategy and day-to-day execution across various platforms including twitter and Facebook.

 

Specific Duties Include:

  • Distribute content in various social networking communities
  • Managing SHAE social media platforms: Facebook, YouTube and Twitter
  • Monitor Google Analytics
  • Become a brand ambassador for SHAE in the social space.
  • Tweet about the latest in emerging art & culture around the world
  • Create sample email and social media copy for media/bloggers to reference and re-post
  • Monitor inquiries and requests across all social networks
  • Research latest social media trends and present findings to team

 

Qualification:

  • Strong familiarity and interest in media (Digital, TV & Radio)
  • Strong writing, grammar and proofreading skills
  • Experience and interest in marketing and/or social media
  • Knowledge of HTML/WordPress
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to prioritize
  • Hard worker who’s driven and has a fantastic attitude
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the digital space and SHAE's core coverage areas

 



VIDEO/PRODUCTION INTERN

Video/Production Intern will be responsible for helping create dynamic, high-quality online video content.  Intern will work closely with SHAE editorial and creative team.

 

Specific Duties Include:

  • Editing 4 - 6 videos monthly.
  • Managing SHAE YouTube page
  • Uploading edited footage
  • Occasionally filming video content
  • Occasionally assisting on video shoots  
  • Promoting SHAE video content across various social media platforms
  • May be requested to do non-video tasks for SHAE as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in Final Cut Pro, iMovie, QuickTime and Photoshop. 
  • Regular access to various video editing programs including but not limited to Final Cut Pro
  • Video Equipment is a plus but not necessary
  • Be out-going and personable
  • Engage in social media platforms daily such as: Twitter and Facebook
  • An interest in arts & culture
  • Must be able to work independently and be a self-starter
