Haiti Changed My Life

Watching the girls of Haiti transform themselves right before our eyes. I went to Haiti as a service project for UIP (United Initiatives for Peace). What I thought I'd be doing was to go and give the girls something to remember and experience but I ended up getting something back in return. The language barrier was an issue for a little while but soon after, we learned different ways to communicate to each other. I spent 10 days there, the girls came on the third day and spent 7 days at the enrichment camp aimed at working with each of these beauties and helping to take certain things off their minds for a moment..

They all arrived very quite but when they understood that this was going to be 7 days of pure bliss, they came alive and wasn't afraid to try new things. At the end of the came, there was a talent show. We had several mini talent shows throughout the 7 days. Some girls would just break out in song and all the volunteers would just sit back and smile, and sometimes cry.

Roll up your sleeves, go to Haiti and get a new look on life! These girls know a lot of about love, challenges and overcoming them and living with what seems to be a little (to us). They make the best out of everything!
