Diallo A. House is a bassist/composer/artist hailing from Ithaca, New York. House began to cultivate his musical talent long before he received his first bass guitar at age twelve. Like his father Donald, (who is also a bass player) Diallo feels and knows the role of the bass in any band situation. He took lessons from the legendary bassist, Rufus Reid. Diallo was honored Musician of the Year Award, granted by his college. Before he left college House Co-founded Hot House Jazz Group with Michael Louis Smith where he played throughout Albany’s, Capital District.
New York City in 2002 was a real a test for House, who was just beginning establishing himself on the new music scene. Around the same time he met his band mates Stacy Dillard and Ismail Lawal, and partaking in informal sessions with more established musicians like the late pianist John Hicks, Saxophonists Ravi Coltrane and JD Allen.
By 2004 Players from multiple genres of music from punk rock to hip-hop had caught word that House played the bass like a badass. House became an immediate hire by songwriters like Brian Jackson, Masauko Chipembere, Matt Russell, Countess Zapak, Knox Chandler, and one of hip-hop’s beloved women talents, Ladybug Mecca of Digable Planets. In 2009, Diallo and longtime friend’s Stacy Dillard, and Ismail Lawal produced House’s debut album, “Night at the Eclipse.” More info See:
"Reflection is my primary inspiration. The world surrounds us with distinct auditory and visual clues, that allow individuals to conceptualize with great detail, the nuances of perspective. Even sounds can be translated into a shape by way of action. Many forms are changed by time and some remain unmoved by anything but light casting a shadow. The shadow is an accurate deformity that for me becomes an idea, even after light has rendered a shape for my eye to interpret. I still improvise what art has to be, because it is always evolving in my mind."
