Fatoumata Diawara ran away from Mali to join French theatre company Royale de Luxe, before making the decision to dedicate herself to her passion, music. An introduction from Oumou Sangaré resulted in a record deal with World Circuit, and she’s also found time to collaborate on Damon Albarn's Africa Express.
Stranded Horse is Normandy’s Yann Tambour. His second album, ‘Humbling Tides’, features compositions on the guitar and the African kora, melting disparate musical modes and cultures with shades of the mandinka tradition, medieval folksong, Fahey-esque fingerpicking and French chanson.
