On Thursday, August 26, 2010, ImageNation Cinema Foundation and The Film Society of Lincoln Center
in association with the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, will present the world premiere of dream
hampton's “BLACK AUGUST: A HIP-HOP BENEFIT CONCERT” at Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theatre,
located at 165 W. 65th St.
The night kicks off with a reception at 6 p.m. followed by a 7p.m. performance, screening and discussion. Hosted by M1 of dead prez, this highly anticipated premiere opens with a live set by Ghanaian emcee Blitz the Ambassador and The evening will close with a discussion on the history of Black August, featuring the film’s director dream hampton, Black August alumni and popular hip hop recording artist Talib Kweli, Black August co-founder Lumumba Bandele, Columbia University
Professor Marc Lamont Hill (seen frequently on CNN), political prisoner Dhoruba bin Wahad and M-1 of hip hop group dead prez.
