Artists for Social Change | Battle of the Canvas 2010

On August 28, 2010 from 4pm to midnight. This is an event open to the public to witness such an exhibition that will highlight artists’ power to help shape and change their communities. All interested battling artists should contact simone@theartsgarage.com or call 215-765-2702 by August 15, 2010.

A day full of color, live music, DJs, food and drink can be expected. There has been nothing like this in Philadelphia and the works produced will be installed throughout The Arts Garage and exhibited during the Philadelphia Open Studio Tour in October. This publicly juried exhibit will feature a grand prize of $500 for the artist that wins. Get involved and stay involved! Support the visual arts of Philadelphia.

This is an open call for all levels of visual artists, painters and graffiti artists. Canvases will be provided to competing artists and for 8 hours, artists will paint, listen to live music, DJ sets, eat, drink and network all in the name of artistic social change. For battling artists, there is a $25 registration fee and for regular entry (non-competing artists), $5 for students with ID and $10 for non-students. This publicly juried exhibition that will highlight during the Philadelphia Open Studio Tour (POST) in October will feature a grand prize of $500.
