RWUL Presents:
THE 2nd ANNUAL RED ORCHID FEMALE SHORT FILM FESTIVAL 2009
Online Web Presentation December 31, 2009
Special Screening in Three Cities TBA


RWUL presents: The 2nd Annual Red Orchid Female Short Film Festival 2009; this event will be showcasing the films of female independent filmmakers. The film festival not only will be featuring the films of talented female artists, but filmmakers will have the chance to compete for recognition. Film entries will be accepted from August 31, 2009 to December 15, 2009 . The best 10 films will be selected by the RWUL’s film committee to be featured in the film festival in December 2009. The 10 films selected will be eligible for an Audience Choice award. The Audience Choice award will be given to the filmmaker selected by the viewing audience as the film festival favorite. The Red Orchid Film Festival will be held online this year with a special screening at theater in three cities that will be announced after the online screening. The votes will be cast via our website and the films will screen online for three days.



For Filmmakers: Rules and Eligibility

Open to any independent female filmmakers ( includes director, writer or producer) that are 18 years of age or older
All film genres will be accepted (ex: animation, documentary, etc.)
Films must be 5-15 minutes in length*
Films cannot contain pornographic material
Films with unauthorized copyrighted material will not be accepted
Films using non-licensed material will not be accepted
Each film entry must be accompanied by a filmmaker short bio
All films must be received by December 15, 2009
Prizes and awards are given per film entry
There is no limit on the number of entries
Films must be original works of applicant

Hi Mama! Just was looking over rwul.com. Love what you're doing there...and mad that we missed crossing paths before (i moved from Richmond, VA to Cali about two years ago). Are you based out of VCU? Are you finding Richmond receptive to your work/mission? Just curious about how you experience that space/environment for creative people...especially people of color?
